Composites UK announces industry award winners

Composites UK has announced the winners of the UK Composite Industry Awards 2013.

These awards, designed to celebrate UK achievements, will be presented at the Industry Awards Dinner on 12th November at the Crowne Plaza, NEC, Birmingham, to coincide with the Composites Engineering Show.
This year the organisation combines all its Industry Awards in one event. The eight awards which will be given out at the event have been design CIMMay13News - composites uked to celebrate innovation - in manufacture, materials and design - as well as recognising outstanding support in employee development, training, health and safety and environmental initiative. The winners are as follows:

Innovation in Manufacture – Jetcam UK for its Crosstrack software suite providing complete traceability from the finished part right back to the roll or rolls. This award is sponsored by Composite Fibreglass Mouldings.

Innovation in Materials – Scott Bader for its Crestabond MMA structural adhesives range enabling very fast cure times. This award is sponsored by Eastman Machine Company.

Innovation in Composite Design – GKN Aerospace for the design and manufacture of the A350 XWB rear spar. This award is sponsored by National Composites Centre.

Health and Safety – Broadwater Mouldings for its work towards the SiMPLC initiative. Environmental – EcoTechnilin UK for development of the first fully bio-based floor panel used in the Jaguar F-Type convertible. Employer of the year – MPM for the outstanding support of its workforce through training. Employee of the year – Dylan Wilson, operations leader, MPM. Apprentice of the year – Josh Pickersgill, production operator, MPM. Award sponsored by Composite Skills Alliance.

Winners of the innovation and environmental awards will also be showcasing their technology in the main features area at the show and presenting in the Composites UK awards forum session on Tuesday 12th November.

“The UK composites industry is at the forefront of technological development and exciting product application both at home and overseas,” stated Composites UK’s chairman, Chris Little. “In an ever-increasingly competitive environment it is important to celebrate our successes. Our awards showcase individuals and companies who go the extra mile to develop the technology and skills needed to highlight the UK as major player in the sector.”

Composites UK also welcomes EPM Technology Group as sponsor of the pre-dinner reception.
