This year materials on display at booth I57 include our innovative Tecnofire fire protection range, nano-coated materials and Optiveil lightweight veils which aid surface finish and composite fabrication.
Tecnofire is a range of versatile lightweight intumescent fire protection materials. The materials work by expanding from 4 to 35 times their original thickness when exposed to heat, protecting the underlying structure from heat energy. The popular range is used extensively in a broad range of applications and has been specified for use in bridges, fire doors, buses, trains, trams and structural panels (to name but a few) following successful fire testing. TFP offer specially developed resin infusible grades for incorporation at the surface of a composite to provide effective fire protection where it is required, without compromising structural integrity.
Also on display at the show will be a nano-functionalised nonwoven; this has been created on our commercial nanocoating line in Schenectady NY. The incorporation of nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes or nanofibers into or onto a nonwoven can provide multiple benefits including enhancement of surface conductivity, EMI shielding, thermal management and structural properties.
Finally, TFP will be exhibiting its Optiveil nonwovens which provide a surface finish solution for a variety of composite markets; with proven results in applications from the aerospace, automotive, sporting goods, marine, energy and industrial sectors. Optiveil can be used as a surfacing veil and fabrication aid – providing a means of improving resin flow in the structure. This dual function highlights the multi-functionality of TFP’s materials; Optiveil can offer additional benefits such as fracture toughness, EMI shielding, electrical conductivity, galvanic corrosion prevention, and corrosion and abrasion resistance.
