At JEC World 2017 in Paris, Scott Bader (Hall 6/Stand M27) will be promoting its materials solutions for manufacturers of composite parts under a new ‘Making a Positive Difference’ corporate banner, with new look marketing branding for the complete adhesives range being unveiled at JEC.

On the stand will be a singlehanded Olympic class Laser sailing dinghy, raced at the Rio 2016 games and past Olympics. Laser's dinghies have an FRP composite hull and deck, designed and manufactured by LaserPerformance in the UK, North America and China using high performance, marine approved resins, gelcoats, core bonding and structural adhesive materials from Scott Bader. LaserPerformance is a global lifestyle brand and the world’s largest composites manufacturer of small sailboats.

Material solutions being promoted on the Scott Bader stand this year include: high performance polyester, vinyl ester and acrylic thermoset resins with compatible glass, carbon and aramid fibre reinforcements; bonding pastes, Crestomer and Crestabond structural adhesives for bonding metals, plastic and composite substrates.

A new ‘zero styrene’ gelcoat will officially be launched at JEC. This latest gelcoat technology innovation, developed by Scott Bader’s R&D team, is already specified by a leading global wind turbine blade producer. It offers FRP moulders interested in the very lowest shop floor emissions possible, an even better alternative to Scott Bader’s existing Crystic Ecogel ‘ultra-low styrene’ gelcoat range, which was launched at JEC in 2013.

Scott Bader is also giving open forum presentations during the first two days of the show. On 14th March, at 14.30hrs, Neil Gray - global market manager, fire, smoke & toxic fume (fst) performance products will be speaking on the topic of: Scott Bader's high performance FST resin and gelcoat systems - successes in the rail and building & construction markets.

As the impact of the European harmonised FST standards for rail (EN45545) and building & construction (EN13501) increases on the whole composites value chain, this presentation will provide a summary overview of European FST specifications in rail and building & construction, technically highlighting the Scott Bader resin and gelcoat systems developed to achieve these specifications, and include case study examples of successful global applications.

On 15th March at 13.30hrs, Malcolm Forsyth - director, global strategy will speak about sustainable development in the composites industry: how a resin supplier like Scott Bader can make a major contribution. The presentation will examine the contribution of resin suppliers to making the use of composite materials more sustainable across the whole value chain from raw materials to “end of life” and the areas where a wider industry co-operation is needed, as well as highlighting a number of product and process initiatives that Scott Bader is already making towards improving sustainability within composites.
