Intrigue on the high seas!

sailrocket blogThis month's issue is packed with many wonders from the marine industry, witness our Sailrocket, Halyard and Norco features.

Sailrocket 2 took 11 years to develop – and less than 15 seconds to break a world record. In 2012, it became the world’s fastest sailing boat, exceeding 65 knots over a 500m run along the Namibian coastline. On land, that would be fast enough to break the speed limit – equivalent to 75mph. We talk to Sailrocket's pilot, Paul Larsen and it doesn't take long to realise why he's wearing a huge grin all the time!

Meanwhile, from turbo to transom, Halyard operates in a very competitive sea lane, providing a range of sea going craft with dry and wet exhaust systems, silencers and filtration systems to help create a quieter and smoother onboard experience by reducing noise and vibration, as well as meeting regulations to reduce smoke and other potentially toxic engine emissions.

Elsewhere, boat building the Norco way, the company is the manufacturing of a series of superyacht tenders on behalf of Pascoe International. Norco customises every boat by using a whole series of unique implants and mould configurations to produce boat shapes specific to each of Pascoe’s customers, whilst minimising tooling costs.

Finally, thousands of innovative yacht builders, naval architects and interior marine designers will be charting a course towards this year’s METSTRADE show, running from 15-17 November in the RAI Amsterdam convention centre. So all in all, this is a very seafaring issue to read this month!
