Custom Composites announces Team GB Olympic relationship

Custom Composites, part of the Attwater Group has announced sponsorship of Olympic hopefuls Team Lloyd Williams-Alloway, continuing a relationship with Team GB sailors that has resulted in gold medals in each of the two last summer games.

The tube specialist will support the British sailors as they qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and through to their bid to top the podium at the games.

Custom Composites has backed Team GB in previous games, producing tiller extensions which helped Sir Ben Ainslie's crews score gold in both 2008 and 2012.

Will Alloway of Team Lloyd Williams-Alloway said: "In early 2016 we set out to find a high-quality carbon fibre specialist for our 2020 Olympic campaign. We are thrilled to welcome on board Custom Composites as our main supplier for carbon fibre equipment.

"After several R&D sessions and prototypes, we have created what we believe to be the ultimate tiller extension in terms of weight, stiffness and grip."

Custom Composites general manager, Andy States said the company had worked together with the team to build and perfect equipment for the games: "Having considerable experience manufacturing carbon fibre tiller extensions, we were confident that we could work with Will & Henry to help refine and improve our existing product for them and get it to a point where they felt it could be improved no further. I am proud to say that we have now achieved that goal."

Alloway added: "When competing on an international level it is imperative that our equipment doesn't fail us. Historically we have found it hard to find consistent products which we can rely on time after time. Custom Composites has changed this providing us with a consistent product that is second to none.

"We look forward to showcasing Custom Composites at the numerous events that we are competing in this year. The racing calendar takes us from Sydney to Palma, and then on to Barcelona, Porto, Kiel and Aarhus."
