Composites UK and the BPF announce Thermoplastic Composites 2016

Following on from a series of successful joint events over the past few years, trade associations Composites UK and the British Plastics Federation (BPF) have again formed a partnership to organise ‘Thermoplastic Composites 2016’, which this year is focussed towards the use of thermoplastics in transport applications.

The growing use of thermoplastic composites in this arena provides an important opportunity for manufacturers. This one-day event will argue the case for using thermoplastics in different modes of transport – from cars to underground trains – as well as providing industry case studies on topics including the use of a honeycomb sandwich preform and the development of a closed-loop recycling method for highly aligned short carbon fibre thermoplastic composites.

The event will be chaired by Henry Sarel-Cook of GKN Land Systems and will take place on 6th October at the BPF’s London office.

Claire Whysall, communications manager at Composites UK said: “We’re pleased to again be working with the BPF on this event, bringing all of our members together in a collective forum. Over the last few years, delegates have filled the event space at the BPF to discuss developments of thermoplastic composites with this year being no exception.

“We are thrilled to welcome Henry Sarel-Cook as our chairman and tie in with the Composites Leadership Forum’s Affordable Composites Group whose remit is to proactively facilitate the development of the UK’s technology capability and supply chain capacity in this area to deliver high-productivity manufacturing of globally competitive, higher-volume composite structures and components for the automotive industry.”

Paul Baxter, senior commercial events and projects executive at the BPF, added: “After the success of our previous joint events, the BPF is delighted to be working in collaboration with Composites UK once again on this topic. The programme for this seminar will provide a useful and detailed examination of the opportunities to use thermoplastic composites in the transport industry.”

Thermoplastic Composites 2016 is aimed at senior and middle management professionals from plastics companies who produce and use thermoplastic composites in the transport industry or who wish to explore entering this important area. The seminar aims to provide a forum for discussing the latest in thermoplastic technology and to give attendees an opportunity to network and make contacts within the industry.

Registration for this event is now open to all. Discounts are available for BPF and Composites UK members.
