Kreator's new hybrid system: combined CNC milling and additive manufacturing technology

Exhibiting at this year’s Advanced Engineering show, CMS Advanced Materials Technology (stand U106) is a leader in the field of high-speed 5-axis CNC machining centres.

The company says that substantial investments in R&D has allowed the brand to always be on the forefront of cutting-edge design, with machines that ensure best-in-class performance in terms of accuracy, speed of execution, and reliability; meeting the needs of customers operating in the most demanding divisions.

Since the early 2000s, CMS Advanced Materials Technology has established itself as a technology partner in areas of excellence, such as aerospace, aviation, automotive, race boating, Formula 1 and the advanced railway industry.

At this year’s event, the company will be promoting the Kreator - its new hybrid system with combined CNC milling and additive manufacturing technology with Screw Extrusion Additive Manufacturing (SEAM).

The process of SEAM involves the use of a thermoplastic polymer in granulated form. The polymer is almost always reinforced (discontinuous fibres of carbon or glass) and the reinforcement is inside the granules. The extrusion is done by a single screw extruder - moved by the tool machine’s axes - that melts the granules. The melted polymer exiting the extruder is deposited in layers that plasticise and form a single piece.
