CIMComp EPSRC moves forward with successful training programme

The EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub has recently finished its bespoke training programme on composite manufacturing, designed by Hub Industrial partner Pentaxia.

After encouraging feedback from attendees on the teaching and learning experience of the sessions, the Hub is pleased to announce the next programme of Pentaxia training will run in November and will be open to all Hub students and researchers.

Pentaxia’s latest session was held in August over a five-day, intensive training course involving hands-on experience with the company’s array of machinery. Students from the University of Nottingham were given intuitive insight into the processes of composite manufacture, including:

Mould Design • CNC Programming • WI Creation • Kit Templating & Nesting • Laminating & Inspection

The experience proved thought provoking for those involved, and a valuable asset to the students’ concurrent engineering studies. Meeting their set objectives, the students highlighted useful lessons such as the laminating process and exploring how composite components were manufactured for the real world.

The next Pentaxia training programme will commence from 7-11 November 2022.
