CIMComp announces Annual Open Day as part of ICS

CIMComp, the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub has announced its Annual Open Day will take place on 6th September 2023.

This event will provide a unique opportunity for industry professionals, academics, and enthusiasts to gather and explore the groundbreaking advancements in the field of composites manufacturing.

The free-to-attend, in-person event is taking place at Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, and will feature as part of the International Composites Summit (ICS). The Open Day promises to be an engaging and informative experience for all attendees. Participants will have the chance to witness cutting-edge research demonstrations, interact with industry experts, and engage in stimulating discussions on the latest developments in composites manufacturing.

After a welcome from Hub director, professor Nick Warrior, University of Nottingham, keynote lectures will be provided by prof Ian Lane, Vertical Aerospace EVTOL, who will talk about “Vertical Aerospace VX4; Challenges for a Composite Airframe,” and Dr Emer McAleavy, Artemis Technologies, who will discuss “Zero carbon, electrically driven hydrofoiling boats: composite design and biofouling challenges.” Talks throughout the day will showcase the latest innovations in composite design and manufacturing.

The event is an exciting opportunity for those involved in the field of composites manufacturing to learn about and experience the latest advances and innovations made in composite materials by the Hub, with the opportunity to contribute to ongoing developments and expansions within the research of composites manufacturing.
