Moving ahead however, we are looking forward to launching the application process for our composites industry awards in May, presented at our black-tie dinner in November.
Since 2012, Composites UK has aligned our Industry Awards Dinner with the Composites Engineering Show, taking place in November each year. The event serves to celebrate and promote the best our industry has to offer with attendance having gone from 70 attendees when the event was initiated up to 300 attendees now.
The nomination process for the 2017 awards will launch at our annual conference (‘Growing the UK Supply Chain’, 10 May 2017, WMG, Warwick). The award categories are innovation in manufacturing; materials; composites design; as well as health and safety, environmental initiative/sustainability and personnel awards trainee/apprentice; employee and employer of the year.
Application forms will be available from our website with the submission deadline of 31st August. Companies can nominate themselves or a company that they have worked with who have excelled in a particular area, however the organisation must have a base in the UK.
Previous winners include Dura Composites, Techlan, Revaluetech, Plataine, Trelleborg AEM, ELG Carbon Fibre, MPM, Teledyne CML, Airbus, Safran Nacelles, Broadwater Mouldings, Hexion CCT, EcoTechnilin, Scott Bader, Zircotec, Far UK, Morgan Composites and Defence, GKN, Metrology Software Products and JETCAM.
We’ve seen incredible support for the 2017 event already, with the National Composites Centre becoming the gold sponsors and Axillium Research signing up to present an award with Sigmatex, Pentaxia, R-Tech Materials, Aro PR and Marketing and OB2B Industrial Marketing and Colorplas booking full tables.
Whilst the event attracts many OEM and Tier 1 companies, it should not be assumed that its black-tie nature means the event is just for the large organisations. The majority of attendees are SMEs buying tables of 10 where they invite customers and suppliers, or they purchase single seats and send one or two people to represent them. Similarly, the sponsorship options surrounding the dinner have been priced to suit all budgets making it an excellent platform to promote companies of all sizes.
Many attendees are also exhibitors or visitors at the neighbouring Composites Engineering show, who choose to use the dinner as a way to unwind on the first evening of the show.
Both members and non-members are welcome at the event, with discounted rates for members on full tables of 10, single seats and sponsorship options.
The 2017 Awards Dinner takes place on 1st November 2017 at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham. Full details including a booking form and floor plan is available on the website with on the website www.compositesuk.co.uk/awards2017, with enquiries always being welcome via info@compositesuk.co.uk or by phone on 01442 275365.
