ARRK’s Lean training programme reaps improvements

The seven members of staff undertook a 12-month government-backed training programme organised by Lead Training. As part of the course the team were assigned real time projects, which saw them review current manufacturing processes using the skills and techniques gained from their course, in order to identify areas of improvement.

Following the analysis, the team implemented their recommendations, which included a refurbishment of the workshop and its layout, and the standardisation of certain processes to deliver consistent operational efficiencies and a reduction in part cycle times.

ARRK is delighted to report that since the implementation of these steps the business has seen significant improvements in its operational performance, as well as increased levels of customer satisfaction.

Stuart White, one of the participants reported: “It was a great learning experience and one that allowed for learning on the job and seeing improvements on a daily basis.”

Such has been the impact on the business, Nuneaton general manager, Paul Patterson, and Group human resources manager, Nicky Chalmers, plan to hold further talks with Lead regarding the next Adult Apprenticeship programme.
