Lord Prior of Brampton visited Applied Graphene Materials, the producer of specialty Graphene materials, on 2nd March 2017 for an introduction to graphene and the science behind it.

AGM’s patented process for making Graphene Nano-platelets was demonstrated to Lord Prior on a tour of facilities at the Wilton Innovation Centre. Lord Prior was particularly keen to understand the challenge associated with the production of nano-platelets, the dispersion of Graphene and the speed with which such a process can be scaled up.

Lord Prior, who was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in December 2016, engaged in discussions with William Weaver, technical director and Neil Hindle, engineering director and demonstrated a keen interest in the production and applications of Graphene in Industry.

Lord Prior said: “The development of advanced materials like Graphene is helping to drive growth across a range of sectors and support high-skilled, well-paid jobs. My visit to Applied Graphene Materials gave me a great insight into the innovative science behind the production of Graphene and its huge transformational potential. Through our ambitious Industrial Strategy Green Paper we have committed to driving growth across the North East and the rest of the UK, using new investments in research and development to drive prosperity, creating more high-skilled, high paid jobs and opportunities.
